CRIME ALERT

We have excerpted the following from a communication sent to Phase VI residents.
"A car parked in the driveway at 40 Windward Hill (at the corner of Hiller Drive) was broken into Monday evening (8/3/98) at approximately 10:30 P.M. The occupants were at home with the lights on at the residence. Tina Pisenti (the neighbor across the street) witness the break in. She yelled at the thief causing him to drop the "loot" and run to a nearby car driven by an accomplice. The police were called and arrived within a half hour. The police recommended that the residents be made aware of the increased and bolder criminal activity in the area. The police regretfully admitted that police presence in this area has been very limited."

Description of the suspects:

Two white males in their 20's who could pass for college students. Car was an older model Honda sedan, dark color (black or burgundy).

RECOMMENDATIONS

Put your cars in the garage. Be alert especially for strangers. If you ever feel that you are being followed, go to the nearest lighted place (Safeway or Lucky's for example) and call the police and ask for an escort to take you home!

PETS

John Hollis (Superintendent for Eastern Landscaping) has reported that many of the plants in the Phase V area are being killed by animals being allowed to urinate on them.

Please do not allow your animals to use the plants as a toilet. Take them to the end of Charing Cross or down Hiller Drive to the Ivy. Those of you who have cats, we cannot emphasize too strongly to keep them indoors. There are wild animals in the area, such as racoons, skunks and a mountain lion has been sighted in the hills. One of our residents lost two "coon cats" by allowing them to roam in the hills.

ARCHITECTURE

The "El Nino" has caused the wood to expand and then contract. This raises havoc with the paint. Pleas contact the Architecture Committee for authorization for exterior painting. There is an approved color scheme for all homes in Phase V. Decks can be painted without prior authorization
