Although the NHPA was born out the fire of 1991, these days we look forward rather than back with an ongoing committment to work together to protect and enhance the safety and preparedness of our neighborhood against whatever it may face. In the past year both Drury Road and Marlborough Terrace required extensive repairs due to slide damage. The NHPA served in both instances as a channel of communication between citizens and the city on these important safety related repairs.
The NHPA has been active protecting the North Hills. We have consistently been the voice of the neighborhood to local and regional governmental representatives on issues pertaining to safety and emergency preparedness. This web site is one of our main avenues of communication, and we try to keep it up to date with relevant and timely information such as links to important safety information and useful phone numbers to enable you to solve problems. We are participating in the new community policing program, which brings a more reliable police presence to our area. We helped make the new Fire Station on Amito a reality. We are monitoring new developments in transportation in the area with safety implications. We continue to meet with fire, police, and vegetation management staff in order to present the needs of the neighborhood to the city. We are active in Community Government.
The NHPA can work effectively for the community only when it enjoys the community's support. The alternative, a community in a risky fire area without a collective voice is genuinely frightening. Thanks for showing your support by joining the North Hills Phoenix Association.
