May 5 - Teresa Ferguson reports, "Be forewarned that Oakland Police will be having a 'parking enforcement week' sometime during the next month and plan to ticket cars that are in violation, including those parked the wrong direction on a street or on a corner (both of which are illegal with or without signage). Of course, parking within 15 feet of a fire hydrant is also prohibited."
March 31 - The North Hills NCPC (Neighborhood Crime Prevention Council) has just created a web page. An NCPC is the way that the City of Oakland implements its community policing philosophy. The purpose of these NCPCs is to act as liaison and work with community residents, organizations, police officers and city officials together to identify and resolve problems in communities.
February 25 - Because of the recent reduction of crime in our District 1, the Oakland Chief of Police is considering removing two Crime Reduction Teams from North Oakland. To keep the police in this area, Jane Brunner has requested that District 1 residents attend a City Council meeting on February 27th at 2 PM and a full City Council meeting the following Tuesday at 7 PM. February 25 - The first newsletter of the year is now available online. Also, Comcast has identified faulty software that has been blocking residents from receiving OpenForum. A temporary fix has been installed.
January 28 - The second meeting of the North Hills Neighborhood Crime Prevention Council will be held on Tuesday, February 6 from 7-9 PM at the Highlands Country Club, 110 Hiller Drive.
January 28 - Members with Comcast e-mail accounts are now getting OpenForum. However, it is not clear what was done to fix this problem.
January 20 - The annual meeting of the North Hills Phoenix Association is on Thursday, January 25 at the Hiller Highlands Country Club.
January 7 - Once again Comcast is censoring e-mail from OpenForum to people with a Comcast e-mail account. Attempts to get them to respond to the problem have been unsuccessful.
