You have a choice in this election - you can choose a candidate who both knows the city well and has a progressive, creative vision to make Oakland even better than it already is. I have lived in West Oakland for 25 years, raised my daughter here (she just got her Masters in Public Policy from UC Berkeley on full fellowship), and plan to retire here. I have a long term commitment to our city. I have served in public office for 17 years, 8 on the EBMUD Board where I was their first woman President and this is my 10th year on the city council. I am well-educated, with two undergraduate degrees in art and geology and an MS in Engineering Geoscience from Berkeley. During my 60 years, I have worked as an artist, a teacher, a geophysicist, an engineer, a small business owner and a policy maker as well as a mother.
My priorities are public safety, education and jobs and entrepreneur opportunities. I hope you will join us to make Oakland a sustainable city, with a transparent, honest government. I bring the best qualities to the job of each of the candidates and ask for your vote to make make me your first woman Mayor of Oakland.
