The Caltrans District 4 Bicycle Advisory Committee will meet on April 13 to discuss the pedestrian/bicycle crossing of Highway 24 from Lake Temescal to Tunnel Road, and how to reconfigure the nearby intersection of the Warren Freeway and Tunnel Road so that pedestrians can cross the road. The North Hills Phoenix Association has submitted this project to Caltrans as a mitigation for the change in traffic flow and increase in traffic volume that will result from construction of the Caldecott Fourth Bore.
Please add your letter of support, in your own words if possible (A template letter is available for your use) and send a copy to Anne Seasons, President, North Hills Phoenix Association, P.O. Box 5844, Berkeley, CA 94705 or send it to her by E-mail. You are invited to attend the meeting on April 13, 1:30 PM, Caltrans District 4, 111 Grand Avenue, Oakland.
Please send your letter by April 5, 2005 so that it will arrive in time for the next Caltrans meeting.

Re: The Highway 24 Pedestrian/Bicycle Crossing, and the Intersection of the Warren Freeway with Tunnel Road
Dear Mr. Sartipi:
I'm writing to endorse requests in the scoping documents for the Caldecott Improvement (Fourth Bore) Project, that the project (1) provide access between Lake Temescal and Tunnel Road for pedestrians and bicycles, and (2) include a reconfiguration of the adjacent intersection of the Warren Freeway with Tunnel Road.
Construction of the crossover and reconfiguration of the adjacent intersection will reunite the Oakland community that was split apart thirty-five years ago by construction the Grove-Shafter freeway; fulfill the requirements of the Alameda Countywide Bicycle Plan; provide access to two primary schools for commuting and field trips; provide residents with a fire-escape route; and provide residents with recreational opportunities.
Sincerely,
